B.I.G. is excited to partner with Lafourche Parish School District to facilitate a mentorship program between B.I.G. members and high school juniors. The program will be highlighted by a day of on the job shadowing, creating a unique opportunity for the BIG member and the student to converse on a more personal level, while exposing the student to real time activities of their potential career interest. Selected students will choose their career interest and will be matched with B.I.G. member companies.
The job shadowing will take place on Thursday, May 11th. The students will be required to provide their own transportation, and the job shadowing must be conducted in-office. Students WILL NOT be allowed to travel with their BIG Buddy to the in-office site or to outside job sites.
Students will be invited to the BIG June membership meeting as guests of their BIG Buddy.
The main goals of the program are:
-
Provide career advice and mentorship to a student who may not have access to professionals in the career of their choice.
-
Forge a relationship with a local student, which can potentially lead to retention of that student as a professional in the Bayou Region.
