BIG Informs, Supports and Strengthens Business and Community
Bayou Industrial Group (BIG) is a non-partisan organization committed to the growth and sustainability of business and industry in the Bayou Region of South Louisiana. Currently, BIG membership includes over 125 companies and individuals from primarily Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. Mary, and Assumption Parishes representing the oil and gas industry, manufacturing, agriculture, professional services, retail, higher education and government.
Founded in 1973, BIG is the oldest industrial association in the region with a strong history of supporting economic development, infrastructure, coastal restoration and protection, education, and public health and safety initiatives in our Bayou Region communities. This provides an opportunity for our members to advocate for or against critical issues in our area as part of a strong, active group of local businesses with a shared goal of growing and strengthening our region.
BIG is also a resource to its members and the communities we serve by communicating news on these critical issues, hosting informative monthly luncheons with significant speakers, hosting member-only tours at member company facilities, and providing networking opportunities for our members. Attendance at monthly luncheons is included in membership. The organization is also a strong supporter of higher education, providing scholarships to local students for enrollment at Nicholls State University and Fletcher Technical Community College each year.
Annual events include the BIG Membership Banquet and BIG Achiever Awards and BIG Seafood Social for Scholarships.
BIG carries out its work through the efforts of three member-led committees: Issues Advocacy, Community Outreach/Scholarship Program, and Membership.
